Clash Royale – Mortar
“Defensive building with a long range. Shoots exploding shells that deal area damage. Cannot shoot at targets that get very close!”
This card can be found from Arena 6, Builder’s Workshop.
This card costs 6 Elixir.
The Mortar can be used for both defending and attacking due to its high range.
The Mortar can only attack land units.
The Mortar is not able to attack troops that are too close to it.
The Mortar deals area damage.
Position it in the center of your base (closer to King’s Tower) to prevent units from easily getting to it.
Do not position it to near to towers as it is not able to target units that are near to it.
Generally used to destroy huge wave of troops, preferably squishy units such as the Archers.
It can be used offensively as the range is high enough to attack the Towers.
Can be used to attack enemies Towers.
Deals area damage, good for clearing waves of units. For example, Skeleton Army.
Can only attack land units. Air units such as the Minions can easily destroy it without getting damaged.
The attack speed is very slow.
Slow deploy time, allows opponent to react to it easily.
Damage is quite low.
As it is not able to attack troops near it, a troop that has fast movement speed can easily get to the Mortar and destroy it without getting damaged. For example, the Prince.

On 11/1/16, the Mortar’s lifetime was nerfed to 40 seconds.
On 2/2/16, the Mortar’s cost was reduced to 4 (from 6), its damage decreased by 40%, its lifetime to reduced 20 sec (from 40 sec) and its range decreased to 12 (from 13).
On 9/2/16, the Mortar’s lifetime was buffed to 30 sec (from 20 sec).
It resembles the level 5 Mortar from Clash of Clans.
